Since commencing production in September of 2008, the DeSmet-Ballestra plant has been producing quality biodiesel that confirms to all relevant EN, ASTM, and BIS specifications. Previously an Export Oriented Unit, the plant was ‘domesticated’ in Q1 of 2009 and has been supplying the growing demand of the Indian domestic market with clean burning renewable fuel. It is ranked as the top biofuel suppliers in India.
The BioDiesel Kakinada plant is also equipped with a pre-treatment plant and glycerine refinery, which enables Universal Biofuels to refine its feedstocks to various parameters, and produce pharmaceutical-grade (USP) Glycerine. The cost savings associated with these pre-treatment and co-product refineries enable Universal Biofuels a significant cost savings versus the competition, which benefits our growing customer base. Universal Biofuels plans to double to name-plate capacity of the plant to 300,000 metric tonnes per annum within a year’s time.
