The Special Economic Zones and EOU status are established to promote exports of finished products, produced by local industry or by multinationals were to generate sizable employment, and provide a big boost to exports. For this purpose, entrepreneurs producing export based products and commodities were provided many benefits in the Special Economic Zones and by EOU status established in different parts of the country.
Taking due inspiration from Government of India's liberalization and economic reforms programme, we have established Universal Biofuels Private Limited at Kakinada, for the production and export of biodiesel. Our company is a 100% Export Oriented Unit. The crude palm oil imported from Indonesia is used to produce biodiesel. The produced biodiesel is exported to US, and further to Europe. Glycerine, a by-product of our bio-diesel plant is supplied in pharma grade quality to India's Soap and Pharmaceutical industry. Our biodiesel plant at Kakinada, contributes its part to promoting export of biodiesel, and strengthens Indian industry by supplying sufficient stocks of Glycerine.

- Upholds and adheres with the EOU permissions and regulations.
- Utilizes internationally acclaimed biodiesel production technology provided by Desmet Ballestra, Belgium.
- The equipment and machinery used at our plant bears the seal of international standard and quality. It provides for centralized control, by PLC operation, over the whole plant, with adequate safety measures to shut down piece of equipment or all the operations of the plant.
- Palm oil imported from Indonesia, will continue to be used as feedstock for production of biodiesel. Due course we will shift to use of Jatropha as sufficient feedstock is expected to be made available. Jatropha is a non-food crop that can be grown on low-grade land without fertilizers, pesticides and irrigation.
- The biodiesel plant at Kakinada is built on the principle of 'Safety first'. Adequate provisions have been made for fire water sump with Jockey pump and diesel operated pump with ring main system, waterjet foam monitors. to counter any fire accidents in the plant. Every month, there is a mandatory shut-down of the plant, to facilitate routine maintenance and inspection of equipment.
- Inspite of lack of mandatory standards of biodiesel quality in India, we adhere with EN [European] and ASTMD [US] global biodiesel standards for quality.
- Our plant at Kakinada and our planned plants in India and abroad are subject to various central or federal, state and local environmental laws. We adhere and uphold all state and national laws concerning safeguards and restrictions on discharge of materials into the air, water and ground; the generation, storage, handling, use, transportation and disposal of hazardous materials; and the health and safety of our employees, and the people of the locality.
- We have put in place adequate protection against operating hazards. We maintain insurance coverage against some, but not all, potential losses. Our insurance coverage is for risk of material physical damage to assets caused by fire or other events, physical loss or damage to the our goods (machinery, raw materials, finished goods etc.) during transit over seas and risks associated with storage, physical damage caused during assembly/erection and testing of plant and machinery.
- Universal Biofuels respects and follows the national and international labor laws and labor standards concerning safety and wages, and ensures that reasonably good conditions of work are provided to its workers.
